I am thinking of hosting one in Midland Michigan..
what would people actually like to do? First couple of meetups it would be nice to introduce ourselves, but what would be a good agenda? Or perhaps that could be discussed at the first meetup? Plus, how many would be interested in coming? Midland is about an hour and a half north of Detroit.. Anybody have any ideas or suggestions? |

Perhaps my background would help a little here..
I have had formal math training, through Differential equations and Linear algebra, and have studied about half of an advanced calculus text on my own. I have extensive knowledge about electronics, physics, and some chemistry. I'm looking more for a "amateur" group, that wants to investigate other math topics, just for the fun of it. |

I started a listserv based math problem solving group a few years ago. It has now over 60 members all over the world. Our main activities are solving lists of problems that appear in various math magazines.

ah (to miguel). that sounds like what i've been looking for! i did a math program at university "for my soul". i make use of that knowledge now, but nowhere near pure enough. i really miss the rigorous problem solving!
